Scott Macpherson Golf Design Ltd proudly specialise in creating tailored golf course designs for discerning clients. With a passion for the environment and sustainability, we work closely with our clients to ensure we fully understand their desires and needs. A very important part of this process is an active collaboration with all relevant team members (e.g. master planners, urban designer, landscape architect etc.) at the earliest possible stage. It has been our experience that this, coupled with an on-going and active input, ensures the optimal result in both productivity and efficiency.

In order to best expedite the process we take pleasure in providing you with an indication of the scope of services we provide:

Consulting Services and Feasibility Reports

• Meet with the Client and their Advisors to broadly understand the parameters and goals of the project (e.g. new course, course renovations, safety issues, etc.)
• Assess the feasibility of achieving the design goals
• Preparing a report of those findings
• Independent Consulting Services: With over 20 years of experience, SMGD can provide consulting on existing golf facilities to help golf courses owners, operators and developers improve the performance of their facilities and golf services.

Master Planning

• Prepare golf course routing plans for approval by client
• Develop consenting strategies with team members
• Develop programme for construction
• Create artistic renderings of preferred master plan

Golf Course Design & Construction Plans

• Prepare construction drawings as necessary (usually including Golf Course Staking Plan, Clearing Plan, Cut and Fill Plan, Grading Plan, Drainage Plan, Irrigation Plan, Detailed Green and Tee esign,)
• Develop drainage and Irrigation Master Planning (with specialist Irrigation Designers)
• Develop construction cost estimations
• Prepare any necessary technical specifications
• Prepare logistical plan to map out implementation strategy

Construction Administration & Supervision

• Advise in the letting of construction contracts
• Administrate through regular on-site visits
• Make necessary adjustments to expedite construction period
• Document construction with periodic site reports, Change Orders, approve monthly Application for Payment from Contractor etc.
• Ensure both quality and aesthetic values and are optimised
• Advise agronomist during grow-in period

Promotion and Marketing Services

• Assistance on promotion of the golf facility during and after construction
• Help client find Design Consultants (e.g. playing professionals) to promote the course
• Scott Macpherson is available for the Ground-Breaking and Opening Ceremonies.

Environmental Consultation Services

• Scott Macpherson Golf Design Ltd promotes sustainability and seeks to include the principles of environmental stewardship into our designs.
• Golf courses requiring less water and nutrients, and with improved habitat areas, can be better for the environment and can be less expensive to operate.
• We work with Golf’s Environmental Organisation (GEO) and offer GEO certification to our clients
